Southern Philippines: TV Program Led Couple to Adventist
Faith
VALENCIA CITY, PHILIPPINES
On Saturday, March 5, 2005, a prominent couple in Southern
Philippines was baptized at Mountain View College during the
Centennial celebration of the Adventist Church in the
Philippines. Juan T. Talion, Sr., was a revered pastor of the
Christian Missionary Alliance Church and was founder of Gideon’s
International in the City of General Santos. He was, for several
years, an Administrator of the City of General Santos while his
wife served faithfully in her husband’s church. In 1978, Juan
Talion was the first lay leader to be ordained into the ministry
of the Alliance Church and served as the first president of the
Council of Elders—an interfaith association of evangelical
churches. Not too long ago, he suffered a stroke and after his
treatment in the hospital was confined to his home. “My
circumstance paved the way for me to listen to good television
programs where I found the marvelous Sabbath truth,” Talion
said. “I thank the pastors at 3ABN programs for guiding me to
this truth.” Pastor Talion and his wife have found the joy of
salvation and in the prime of life, will devote their time to
tell the wondrous story of redemption and the sacredness of the
Sabbath truth, as envisioned in God’s Commandments, to his
former parishioners. [Lorenzo Rodulfo/AND] |
