Study Center holds workshop

The Religious Study Center in Myanmar held a workshop designed to enhance the skills of church members in reaching out to non-church members in this predominantly Buddhist country.
Held at Yangon Adventist Central Church, May 29-31, 35 volunteers representing five mission fields in Myanmar attended this workshop.
Facilitated by Pastor Victor Shwe of the MYUM Religious Study Center, the workshop had Scott Griswold and Michael Allan Kier, director and associate director, respectively, of the Buddhist Study Center headquartered in Thailand, as the main presenters.
Griswold and Keirs presented topics and discussion issues related to reaching out to non-church members particularly the non-Christians. They also visited the RSC home cell, where an on-going action of reaching out to young people with the good news of salvation is evident. Thus far, this ministry has drawn five youth to accept baptism in 2008.
“It is not only exciting but interesting to spread the good news to non-believers who never had experienced fellowshipping with Christians in the past,” said Dr Conally Hla, a professor of religion at Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary and a workshop participant. “Now we find it a joy to see many of them embracing the truth.” [Myo Chan]
